I started building racing engines in 1981 in South Africa. It was a hobby of mine while I was holding down a full time job. I enjoyed it so much that it became my full time job.
Many of the Drag Racers had either a Chevy or Ford big block they were racing with. I imported all the Chevy parts from the US because at the time South Africa had a boycott on Chevrolet.
I was well known as "Van the Man" in South African Drag Strips for many cars had an engine or a cylinder head I worked on.
I came to the US in 1995 to start a machine shop. New country and new rules, it took a bit to get started. My specialty is porting cylinder heads. I do most of the porting by hand. I do the flow test and will give the numbers before and after so my customer can see the difference.
